Concept

The concept of DFI is based on three principle pillars. In addition to an excellent school education, boarding school students receive individually specified football feedback and great personality mentorship. We achieve this through the perfect interplay between our club, the school and our boarding school. Thanks to the timetable of the private school, students are able to complete the first individual training session in the morning without having to compromise a minute at school. In addition, our own club offers the opportunity to play in the highest german leagues and to be trained to perfection by up to 20 professional football coaches.

Our target groups are children and adolescents between the ages of 10 and 18 who have great footballing potential and may even have the desire (dream) to become a professional football player after they graduate from school, as well as children and adolescents whose parents see the tremendous value of the healthy balance of school, sport and personality development for the overall education of their children.

The unique and all-rounded development of each individual student is the focus of our work at DFI. The German Football Boarding School, together with the Dietrich Bonhoeffer Education Campus, sets new standards in personality development as well as player specific football training and school support.

A carefully cultivated positive boarding school and school climate, combined with a fair and respectful cooperation are the basic requirements for a good community. For this, it is necessary that the entire boarding team, consisting of students, parents, trainers, teachers, administrative staff and the boarding school staff, actively participate in shaping boarding school life.

Our goals are:

  1. Development and mentorship of students to becoming successful personalities.
  2. Development and mentorship of students to becoming successful professional athletes.
  3. Optimal link between school and competitive sports.
  4. Implementation of an efficient full-day concept.
  5. Development of the boarding school as a living space.

In order to be able to achieve these goals, we founded our own club after the opening of the German Football Boarding School in June 2011 in January 2012 in order to guarantee our players not only the best technical training but also perfect tactical training.

Boarding Trial

Every interested person has the opportunity to apply for a trial stay at the German Football Boarding School. The following documents must be submitted:

  • Filled out document of personal information
  • Filled out DBBC registration form
  • Football career resume
  • Last school report

After receiving the application, you will receive feedback whether your son is permitted to a trial stay. Please understand that incomplete applications will not be taken into consideration.

During these days, the child will be fully integrated into the daily routine at the boarding school and at school, so that the boy can get an idea of the boarding school life. This includes living in one of our boarding rooms, daily meals with classmates and daily training sessions on the football pitch, as well as attending classes at the Dietrich-Bonhoeffer educational campus & Deutsche Sport Privatschule (DBBC).

Once the child is picked up after the duration of stay, our team is available for a final discussion. With this open conversation, questions can be clarified and a possible admission to DFI can be done.

Boarding Accomodation

The German Football Boarding School is located within the B&O campus, a former military base. The buildings of DFI, which were completely renovated in 2011, has almost nothing to show for this past. Today, the buildings have everything that is required to make life pleasant and beautiful for the students.

Our 7 x 11 meter 'Soccer Court' (found within the boarding house) and our mini playground 'Innenhof', are permanent meeting points for the students regardless of the weather. There is a lounge, a living room and an open space on each floor where the boys can meet to watch TV, relax, study, entertain and play. Everything is geared to the varied needs of the boys and offer them opportunities for retreat and relaxation from intense training and concentrated work at school.

The students at the German Football Boarding School are usually accommodated in 2-bed rooms and very few 4-bed rooms. The main building has up to 88 beds for students and guests. This offer is supplemented by additional spaces in the adjoining building, in which several shared apartments are available for older students. The basic furniture that comes with the rooms (with wardrobe, bed and desk) made of solid wood by the local carpenter is rounded off by the individual preferences of the students in cooperation with their parents and the boarding school staff.

On the 2nd floor is the realm of the in-house physiotherapists (link) who make sure that the students prevent injuries and help those that have them to come back on the pitch as soon as possible being even stronger than before.

In the in-house kitchen, our charming staff prepares fresh food for up to 350 students, employees and guests every day. In the mornings,  breads from the local bakery with fresh cold cuts and sweet treats are available. At lunchtime, various and continuously changing main dishes, desserts are served along with the best salad buffet in town, which suits everyone's taste. In the evening there is a delicious snack and for students who come home later, there is plenty of food.

In addition, various sporting events are regularly watched together on the television in the bistro. Whether its Bundesliga, Champions League or the World Cup, everyone celebrates each emotion together.

In order to structure the daily routine of up to 100 boarding school students / guests, offices and work rooms for the secretariat, accounting, pedagogue, trainer, laundry, caretaker and management departments are, of course, very necessary. These are organised in such a way that the pupils always reach their supervisors quickly.

Neighbourhood & Free-Time

The German Football Boarding School is located on the B&O campus in the district Mietraching in Bad Aibling, south of Munich. The site is an impressive concept that combines staying, working and living to the fullest. Former residential structures, sports halls, a hotel, a bowling alley, a kindergarten, a school complex, workshops, warehouses and office buildings were renovated and further developed into a wonderful area in which the students of the German Football Boarding School visibly feel at home.

The city of Bad Aibling is certainly one of the most beautiful cities in the Upper Bavarian Alpine foothills. With a population of just 18,000, it is a cozy town, but it has a lot to offer thanks to the thermal baths, the spas, the parks, a bunch of very good restaurants and shops.

The location of Bad Aibling is certainly worth mentioning. On one hand, you are right in the foothills of the Alps. With a fantastic view of the Alps, you can enjoy the benefits of being close to the mountains all year round. DFI is just a ten-minute drive away from the Alps - ideal for our students, their parents and friends who like to go to the slopes to ski. In addition, every now ans then, a training session also takes place there.. this could be through cycling, hiking etc.

On the other hand, you are in the immediate vicinity of the cosmopolitan city of Munich. Just 50 km from Bad Aibling, you have ideal connections to the Munich Airport, the city itself and the extremely attractive football clubs around the city. The cities of Kufstein, Grafing and Rosenheim are also in the immediate vicinity and can be easily reached by car or train.

In connection with the wonderful B&O Parkhotel, directly opposite the boarding school, a little visit by the boarding school students can make for a short weekend vacation in a wonderful landscape.

The leisure activities of the students at the DFI in Bad Aibling are extremely varied. Thanks to its proximity to the Bavarian Alps and the state capital of Munich, the surrounding area offers the perfect conditions for a variety of leisure activities.

The Allianz Arena , where 75,000 enthusiastic football fans cheer on the German record champions in one of the most beautiful and impressive stadiums in Germany, can be reached in less than an hour. It is a 20-minute drive to Wendelstein, an unforgettable excursion destination for mountain hikers who are looking to climb the 1,838 meters to the summit cross.

There is always something for winter sports fanatics too. In the immediate vicinity of the boarding school, students in Oberaudorf can look forward to the best evening skiing and sledging in Germany. A few kilometers further, those that dare to can plunge down the mountain in Kössen on snow tubes. The Maxlrain Golf Club is within sight of the boarding school. On the lush and green 18-hole golf course, you can devote yourself entirely to playing with the little ball. In addition, you can hone your game on the 9-hole course and learn to play golf without a handicap, which some of the boarding school students have already started.

The region is also a Mecca for cyclists. Numerous cycle paths lead along large rivers - Mangfall and Glonn - which are flanked again and again by wonderful bathing lakes and thus offer the optimal framework conditions for a wonderful biking excursion.

The city of Bad Aibling also has a lot to offer for young people; in addition to the numerous ice cream stalls, the DFI students are particularly drawn to the Aibvision Film Theater, the mini golf course or the Bad Aibling Spa.

The B&O area itself also has a lot to offer for the boys. For example, basketball courts, beach volleyball courts and a baseball field await the sports-enthusiastic kids, which can be used by the DFI students due to a cooperation with the city of Bad Aibling. A highlight is certainly "Johnny’s Bowling Center", which is operated by a former professional bowler and is used by DFI students for exciting matches.

In addition to football, the boys at the German Football Boarding School have every possible opportunity in their spare time. With the boarding school educators, they take regular trips to various destinations or spend time with you in the boarding school at the table tennis table, with board games or film evenings in the living room.
